World Female Heavy Events Championship
Making Scottish History
This year we are introducing the World Female Heavy Events Championship in Scotland for the first time at the Glenurquhart Highland Games! This historic event marks a new era for women in Highland sports, celebrating strength, skill and determination on a world stage.
As pioneers of this championship, we stand for inclusivity, equality and the recognition that women deserve their place in the tradition of heavy events.
It’s more than competition, it’s a statement of achievement, breaking barriers and inspiring future generations. Join us in making history and witnessing the power of women in Highland Games!
Championship Events:
9 lbs Putting the Shot
16 lbs Weight for Distance
13 lbs Scot’s Hammer
28 lbs Weight Over the Bar
Tossing the Caber
Rules of entry
Please ensure that when you enter, you disclose your personal best results in 2024 for each throwing event.
The championship will include a maximum of 12 competitors
The closing date for applications is 1st July.
If you have reached the A Standard in any of the four throwing events, you will get automatic entry for the championship.
Applicants who have not reached the A Standard will be considered after the closing date and informed if they have been successful by 5th July.
If the maximum field of 12 competitors is not reached, entries will reopen on 6th July for any additional applications.
NB this championship is not sanctioned by RSHGA but will be held under their competition rules alongside our existing heavy events.
