The Glenurquhart Highland Gathering & Games is a highlight of the Scottish Highland Games calendar, bringing together tradition, heritage, sport and culture in a breathtaking setting by the shores of Loch Ness. Held annually on the fourth Saturday in August, it features thrilling heavyweight events like caber tossing and hammer throwing, alongside Highland dancing, piping and competitive track events.

The beauty of the Highland Games is that they are open to anyone!

We hold Local Events in the morning which are only available to competitors from Glenurquhart, Strathglass and the surround areas, but our Open Events in the afternoon are available to all and our Glen Challenge is even a great event for the whole family to enjoy together if you’re feeling adventurous!

World Female Heavy Events Championship

This year we are establishing the World Female Heavy Events Championship in Scotland for the first time! This groundbreaking event celebrates women's strength, skill and place in our Highland Games community.

More than just competition, this is a historic moment of inclusivity and we’re proud to take a step forward in supporting the progress and achievements of our female athletes.
